ay back in 2013, Melinda struck out on her own to open "Lucky Dog Training," a positive reinforcement-based training facility that focused on the human side of dog training. The first year was a lot of hard work and a lot of learning, but it paid off! The Lucky Dog family continued to grow as Dresden joined in the spring of 2015, and we eventually outgrew the small building we occupied. In April of 2017, we moved to our new location and re-branded to "Lucky Dog Training Center." In this new facility, we have space to grow and hold more classes, workshops, seminars, and more! Katie and Lauren have joined since and we're so excited to have such a great team.
At Lucky Dog Training Center, we train using positive reinforcement, often called "clicker training." There are many ways to train a dog, but we believe this method is the easiest, kindest, and most reliable way to train. We focus on teaching dogs what we want them to do, not what we don't. This science-based approach is used worldwide by animal trainers in all disciplines, such as training zoo animals to allow medical care or training chickens in order to better train dogs. Because of this, the end result is a dog who enjoys working with you and behaving! We offer group training classes in the following categories: Puppy, Pet Manners, Agility, Rally & Obedience, and Specialty, which includes things like tricks and therapy dog preparation.
