Petagogy (pet-uh-goh-jee) is an independently-owned local pet supply store that is operated by five humans and their six dogs. Where did we get that name? It comes from the word “pedagogy,” which is the art or profession of teaching. No, we’re not an obedience school or pet care experts, but we do pride ourselves on learning about the best products out there, and we hope to pass on that information to our customers.
Our animals aren’t just pets, they’re our family. We want to make sure we are doing everything we can to ensure they live long, happy, and healthy lives. We opened Petagogy to give Pittsburgh-area pet owners access to an independent store in their community that has a knowledgeable staff and a wide selection of healthy and natural foods, treats, and supplies for dogs and cats. We also host many in-store and community events, including pet adoptions, quarterly Yappy Hours, annual Pet Vendor Fairs, and Pet Photos with Santa.
We partner with local rescues and shelters to host pet adoptions throughout the year.
We know many of our customers are our neighbors. So, if you’re out walking your dog and realize you’re out of food, or are just passing by and remember you need cat litter, no problem! Stop in and purchase your items and we’ll deliver them to you, as long as you live within a five-mile radius of the store. You can also call and place your order over the phone and we’ll drop it off within 48 hours. Delivery service is only available at the Shadyside location. Restrictions may apply.
